Week 4 Term 2

Welcome to Week 4 Term 2

We are close to the middle of the term already. Students have been full on within various activities around the kura. One of our highlights is that we are creating a production based on our Reading programme. Students have been reading Maori Myths and Legends and we have decided to do a skit based on the Legend of Rona. We hope to share our production with parents and also our syndicate by the end of the term.

Welcome to Week 2 Term 2

Kia Ora Whanau and welcome back to week 2. Last week students were given their spelling list for the week. They should be practising these every night as we have identified that spelling is a need within the classroom across the board. We will be visiting these words every Monday and new words will be given out. Winter sports trials have now started and I have been pleased to see so many of our students trial for the respective codes we have here in Te Tairawhiti. I wish all my students the very best in pursuing their goals for their chosen sport. This week we will be doing some major learning within our levelled groups. Students who do not complete work in the classroom will need to complete it at home. I would finally like to welcome a new student into Ruma Rua Tekau. Mamie West has enrolled into our Kura from Muriwai School. Nau Mai Mamie me to whanau. He Mauri Tu, He Mauri Ora.

Last week I introduced the students to Tapuae which is a Traditional Maori Game. The game involves physical and thinking skills.

Welcome Back to Term 2 Whanau

I hope everyone has had an awesome two week break. I am sure the students have all recharged their batteries and are ready to rock n roll for another term. This term will be a busy one. With most of our assessments completed and learning groups established, it is time to get some serious mahi done. We pride ourselves in Room 20 to be the best, nothing more and nothing less and with this motto will give everything 100 percent effort and commitment. Term 1 was all about establishing a team environment and culture and to help everyone paddle in unison. We have established a solid unit and with this in mind, it is time to work together for a common cause and focus. To achieve and be better then we were the day before. It is all about making small steps. As long as those steps are going forward and not backwards. Whanau I welcome you on board and with you continued support, another successful term beckons. 

Final Week Week 11

We are now into the final week of the term. I have thoroughly enjoyed this term, knowing that there is plenty of work to do within the near future. A huge thanks to those parents that I have made contact with via phone contact, text or personally (Kanohi ki te Kanohi). I am looking forward to sitting down with the rest of you to discuss your childs progress this week. This term has been about fostering relationships and building a team that will work well together and most importantly for each other. Learning will excel if everyone is on the same kaupapa. There cannot be a chink within our armour. I look forward to our final week of term 1. Remember my door is always open.
